As a creative director, brand strategist and designer, I’ve led and created work for more than a thousand projects in my career. Over the past 25 years, I’ve been a strategic creative partner for brands like Napa Valley Vintners, BottleRock Napa Valley, Rombauer Winery, UC Berkeley, Auction Napa Valley, Yosemite Conservancy and hundreds of others. During that time, I have been lucky enough to meet with, learn from and be inspired by visionary entrepreneurs, scientists, artisans, corporate leaders, technical wizards and amazing people trying to make the world a better place. My projects have spanned across dozens of industries and have been produced in nearly every medium. Which means I know how to faithfully express a brand across every part of the ecosystem.

I can do and have done everything on my own from strategy to design to production. More importantly, I have led incredibly talented teams of creative professionals, inspiring and encouraging them to reach and push beyond their limits to create successful, strategically-sound, memorable work.


EXPERIENCE

Plumbline Creative: Principal, Creative Director, Designer (1999-present)

Plumbline is a multichannel creative design studio helping clients develop strategy and deliver visual messaging across all brand platforms. [plumbline.com]

  • Led a multi-discipline creative design studio of 8 employees, dozens of freelancers and third-party vendors to deliver strategic and compelling creative that also successfully achieved business objectives

  • Acquired all new business and maintained all client relationships

  • Designed, produced and managed over a thousand highly-successful brand communications projects

  • Interfaced directly with clients on every phase of each project–from strategy to concept inception to delivery of final art, keeping projects within budget, scope and timing

Career Highlights:

BottleRock Napa Valley: Conceived, established, created and produced brand identity, look and feel, and customer / festival experience. Led design team and production staff to develop all promotional material, advertising campaigns, print collateral, signage, merchandise, web, digital and social presence in less than half the time typically reserved for similar projects. Forbes Magazine called BottleRock “Coachella for Grownups.”

American Golf Corporation: As the agency of record for for 12 years, led team to create and produce brand identity, advertising, digital communications, print collateral and promotional material for over 200 country club and golf courses nationwide.

Renwood Winery:
Complete re-brand of the winery, leading to a greater presence in the market and subsequent recovery from a negative brand impression. Delivered an in-depth brand platform, new identity, story and packaging systems for multiple product tiers. Extended and applied new identity to support collateral, advertising, tasting room environment, promotions and digital communications.

Napa Silverados: Established the brand identity for Pacific League Baseball expansion team, creating brand identity systems, promotions, environmental graphics and signage, promotional material, merchandise, and advertising material, bringing big-league style baseball to the Napa Valley.

Non-Profit Success
Created impactful print and digital brand communications for non-profit organizations focused on bettering peoples lives and making our world a better place. 

  • The League to Save Lake Tahoe: Created first web-presence, increasing their visibility and growing their membership by telling their story online.

  • Yosemite Conservancy: Developed new digital presence, created and produced quarterly magazine, informational brochures, and advertising campaigns that helped increase support for their program.

  • Crestwood Behavioral Health: Created publications, advertising campaigns, web and print communications to better inform and support families and individuals dealing with mental health and recovery issues.

  • Harvard Medical School: Designed and developed a new, content-managed website and user experience for  The Center for Health and the Global Environment.

  • The Center for Ecoliteracy: Developed visual programs and campaigns that helped educate families about healthy food and summer meals for children in public schools.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

CompareNet: Creative Director (1997-1999)
Created brand identity and website UI/UX for the Internet’s first product comparison engine (later acquired by Microsoft). Developed all brand communications, collateral, sales material and advertising campaigns. Interfaced directly with partners including Sony and Panasonic to develop advertorial / landing pages for sponsored products.

Addis: Designer & Interactive Media Lead (1995-1997)
Worked as part of the packaging design team as a production artist and designer on projects for Pepsi, Sterling Vineyards and others while also responsible for starting and leading the interactive design group. Worked directly with clients and senior creative staff on new media projects for Intel, The Learning Company and others.

Primo Angeli: Production Artist (1993-1995)
Responsible for design extensions, final art development and mechanical art preparation for food and beverage packaging projects for clients including Henry Weinhards, Nestlé, Old El Paso and more.
